Year 10 spent the day learning about what STEM is, how it affects the local area and what careers they could follow in the field of STEM. The students were then set the main challenge which was to work in groups to design a car for the future. The car needed to be the most efficient, safe, fastest and cheapest they could design. The students worked really well in their groups coming up with some amazing designs and models of their vehicles. The winning group where Lauren Ashley, Hannah Glover Adams, Amy Roberts, Amber Souter and Kate Jones. Their design which was named FS17 was innovative and they spoke very confidently and eloquently about their design. From winning this competition the girls now have the opportunity to take part in the National Sci Tech quiz at Exxon in March.
