Any safeguarding concerns from parents, carers or students should always be reported to one of the team.

Applemore strives to ensure that all students, staff, parents/carers and those within the wider community, feel safe, both within and outside of school.

Our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies can be found below. All adults, including supply staff and volunteers, who visit the school site, are expected to be aware of these policies and engage with our values of keeping children safe.

Our culture supports all student’s right to learn and thrive in an environment where they feel safe, nurtured and supported. All students have a right to be protected from abuse and harm. Staff are confident in recognising and reporting concerns to our experienced Safeguarding Team.

We are committed to promoting a school community where students feel empowered to report any concern that they may have, whether this is about themselves, a friend or relative. Through our assemblies, tutor sessions, life skills lessons and PDL Days we guide students on how to spot signs that a friend or family member is not safe and how to seek help for themselves or someone else. We encourage students to speak to the Safeguarding Team or a familiar member of staff with any worries or concerns no matter how small they feel they are.

There will be times when we may need to share information with other agencies when we are concerned about a child’s welfare. In the first instance we will ensure that these concerns are discussed with parents/ carers unless we feel that this will be detrimental to the child’s welfare. Applemore works in partnership with multiple agencies to ensure that students receive the support that they need.

Our students have the right to learn, live and grown in an environment they can enjoy, feel happy and feel safe. This includes their right to protection from all types of abuse and harm, a school environment in which staff are vigilant to any students in distress and are confident in the processes they need to undertake to alleviate and report such concerns.
