Careers Education at Applemore College
At Applemore, we are committed to preparing our students for life beyond school. Over their five years with us, students take part in a wide range of activities designed to help them explore future careers, develop employability skills, and make informed choices about their next steps.

🧭 Key Stage 3: Exploring Aspirations
During KS3, students begin to explore the world of work through our Life Skills programme, which includes:
• An introduction to careers and future aspirations
• Enterprise activities during Citizenship theme days
• Lessons on gender stereotyping and CV writing
In Year 8, students receive tailored support when choosing their GCSE options, including:
• Assemblies and tutor guidance
• Information evenings for students and parents

💼 Key Stage 4: Preparing for the Future
In KS4, careers education becomes more focused and practical. Highlights include:
• Work Experience: A full week in Year 10, with preparation and support throughout
• Investment Challenge and Bright Futures Workshop
• Mock Employability Interviews
• Maths-Based Careers Fair (end of Year 9)
Every student will also have at least one 1:1 careers interview with a qualified adviser during KS4.
🎓 Post-16 Preparation
To support Year 11 students in making informed choices, we offer:
• A Post-16 Careers Fair in November 2025
• An Apprenticeship Information Event in February 2026
• College visits and assemblies from local providers
• Guidance on applications, personal statements, and interviews

Located in the school library, the Careers Library offers:
• Up-to-date sixth form and college prospectuses
• Information on apprenticeships and job-seeking
• University prospectuses and career-specific literature
